Leading with Action: Amelia Group Wins Sustainable Airline Award for 2024 Achievements

The Amelia Group is proud and honored to announce our acceptance of the prestigious ERA 2025 Sustainable Airline Award at this year’s ERA General Assembly. The award recognizes the tangible progress and innovative projects delivered under our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, HORIZON.

“Receiving this award is a tremendous honor, and it’s a direct reflection of the work put in by every single employee at Amelia,” said Adrien Chabot, Chief Sustainability Officer, upon accepting the recognition. “Our priority is to lead with action, ensuring that our growth is collective, sustainable and responsible.”

The HORIZON Program

At Amelia, we recognize our role as a vital vector of social and economic connectivity, and we are acutely aware of the environmental impact of air travel. Our HORIZON program structures our strategy around three core pillars —Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) — to guide our development through 2027. This strategy is pragmatic, ambitious, and focused on delivering quantifiable results, particularly in reducing our climate impact.

Key Environmental Achievements in 2024

In 2024, we executed pioneering projects that moved us beyond industry standard and toward our HORIZON2027 goal of a -40% reduction of CO2 emissions per available seat kilometer.

  1. Pioneering Contrails Mitigation: Contrails account for about 25% of the climate impact of our flight operations. In a pioneering effort, Amelia co-developed and deployed technology with Thales to monitor these non-CO2 effects. By adjusting flight paths on a dozen Embraer flights between France and Spain, we demonstrated an ability to reduce the overall climate footprint by up to 70% per flight.
  2. Voluntary SAF Investment: We demonstrated market leadership by making a significant voluntary investment in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). We used SAF, made from recycled cooking oils, for all flights departing from Amsterdam. This resulted in SAF accounting for 3.6% of our total fuel consumption in 2024 and directly avoiding the equivalent of 802 tonnes of CO2.
  3. Ground Operations Efficiency: The taxiing phase accounts for approximately 10% of flight fuel consumption. To combat this, we successfully tested extended towing trials using low-emission and electric tractors, delaying engine start-up until closer to the runway. This innovative approach yielded an estimated 40% fuel savings during these phases.
A Future Built on Transparency and Innovation

While we celebrate these successes, we remain committed to transparency. We are intensifying our efforts and inviting our entire ecosystem—suppliers, clients, and partners—to join us in this critical environmental and societal transition. Our commitment also extends to preparing for the future, including our involvement in the AZEA (European Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation) and the support of new OEMs in developing the future generation of air transport.

We are firmly optimistic about our capacity to deliver on our HORIZON2027 roadmap.
